Understand the theory of operation of smoke detectors of the ionization, projected beam, aspiration, photoelectric, and cloud chamber operating principle of operation. Know the proper and improper applications of smoke detectors, the way each type of smoke detector responds to a fire, and the methods used by testing labs to determine the suitability of a smoke detector for listing.
